DESCRIPTION:Seasearch is a national project which trains divers\, freedivers and snorkellers to record the wildlife they see on their dives. It gives additional purpose to your diving and is great fun as well as providing vital information for our conservation work. \nThis course is aimed at giving divers new to the project an introduction to the Seasearch programme. It is suitable for all divers including those who are already good at marine species Id and for those who are total beginners at marine id. At the end of the course you will be able to complete the Seasearch Observation Form to a level suitable to make the information you record really count\, and take part in Seasearch dives\, either on your own\, with your club or on dives organised by Seasearch partners. \nCost – £70per person\, which includes a copy of the Seasearch Guide to marine life (rrp £19.95) and a course pack. \n  \nFor additional information and registration\, click here.

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to conduct an intertidal survey for Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s recording project – Shoresearch \nShoresearch is a user-friendly and fun method of exploring the shore and recording the species and habitats found there. Shoresearch Cornwall has been run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust since 2012 and in this time we have carried out hundreds of surveys and have trained over 200 volunteers. \nJoin the Shoresearch team for an evening online session\, where you’ll learn the ins and out of how to record marine life during an intertidal survey.  For additional information and registration\, click here. \nPractical sessions will take place on low spring tides and be situated around the county: \n\nSaturday 21st February – Falmouth\nFriday 20th March – Newquay\nSaturday 21st March – Mounts Bay\nSaturday 2nd May – Spit Beach\, Par\n\nYou must attend at least one practical session to complete your training but can attend more. Once registered to the online training\, you will receive a promo code to use to book on to the practical sessions for free.

DESCRIPTION:Seaquest Southwest is a citizen science marine recording project run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas Team. It is one of Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s fantastic marine projects aimed at better understanding\, conserving and protecting marine wildlife and wild places for future generations\, collecting sightings data on the abundance and distribution of marine megafauna around the Cornish coast.    \nJoin the intrepid volunteers of Mount’s Bay Marine Group on Saint Michael’s Mount for a few hours of observation\, recording\, and fun\, weather permitting.  If interested and/or you would like additional information\, please contact us.  We are limited to 10 spots per date.  \n For additional information on the Seaquest Southwest Programme by Cornwall Wildlife Trust\, click here.  \n*We meet at 10:00am (pretty sharpish) in Folly Field Car Park and take the boat or walk across to the Mount.\n*Our survey takes place between: 11:00am – 13:00pm on the green lawn below Sir John’s Study at the castle summit.\n*The St Aubyn Foundation are happy to provide a FREE FROTHY COFFEE or hot drink (please bring a travel cup) and can also ensure we can park for free.\n*Sensible footwear/layers/waterproofs/sou’westers/sunscreen\, snacks and drinks that you need – as for all our outdoor events.

SUMMARY:Marine Life Rescue - Tales from the Frontline!
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dan Jarvis\, Director of  Welfare and Conservation\, British Divers Marine Life Rescue \nDan will describe the role that BDMLR plays at the frontline of marine mammal emergency response.  This can range from attending seals in distress caused by marine refuse becoming lodged around their necks – to dolphins that have becomed entangled in discarded fishing gear.  He will describe the multitude of threats that these creatures face and how BDMLR cares for them during and after rescue.  He will also explain to us how we can all help in the conservation of these animals.  Dan will present the national picture as well as describing incidents that have occurred in Mount’s Bay and the surrounding area. \nSuggested donation: £5. Your donations go towards future community engagement activities\, our Seagrass and Kelp monitoring project\, equipment\, training and insurance costs.
